What Services Do We Offer?
Bathrooms
Your bathroom wet area is a vital area where water and moisture are prevalent. All shower walls and floors need to be waterproofed to Australian standards. This stops water leaking into the walls and lower-level ceilings causing water damage. It is also recommended that all wet area bathrooms include a water-flood test.
Balconies
Any balcony or deck by law needs to be waterproofed. This prevents leaks permeating the substrate, which can cause water to leak into ceilings below or leak into the perimeter of the walls of the building. This can cause rot, mold, and water damage. Being open or partially outside a balcony is not immune to the effects of the weather. Rainfall is the main reason you get water on your balcony, hence the need for waterproofing the perimeter and floor of any balcony/deck.
Retaining Walls
Retaining walls need to be protected from penetration by migrating water. When ground water seeps into the wall, it can lead to an array of problems. For example, the water may simply stain the wall with lime or calcium deposits. The pressure of the water can also cause the render or external plaster to crack or fall off. Or it could lead to the corrosion and expansion of steel rods supporting the structure – which can, in turn, crack the concrete. And in the worst cases, the pressure of water build-up may cause the wall to collapse – which is a dangerous prospect for larger walls. Therefore, all retaining walls need to be waterproofed within Australian standards to prevent water damage and leaks.
Garden Beds
Because raised garden beds are often kept on balconies, terraces, decks and pathways, water leaks can cause problems. For these and many other reasons the walls and the floor need to be waterproofed to prevent water and moisture to leak to wreak havoc and cause water damage
Toilets/PWD
In the event of a leak in or behind your toilet, or if your toilet backs up, you should at the minimum have the perimeter junction of the walls and the floor of the toilet area waterproofed to prevent water damage.
Laundries
It is important that the perimeter of the junction where the walls and floor meet is waterproofed. This will prevent water damage in the event of a burst pipe or leak from your washing machine.
Garden Beds / Planter Boxes
Because raised garden beds are often kept on balconies, terraces, decks and pathways, water leaks can cause problems. For these and many other reasons, the walls and the floor need to be waterproofed to prevent water and moisture to leak to wreak havoc and cause water damage
Window and Door Reveals
Window and door reveals that are not sealed and waterproofed correctly could allow water to penetrate over time. This exposes the wall cavity to moisture, leading to mould and rot, and possibly major structural issues. This is another reason why all windows and door reveals need to be properly waterproofed.
Negative Side Water Proofing
This form of waterproofing is vital to prevent water leaks.
Please read below to understand how important this type of waterproofing is.
What is negative pressure waterproofing ?
Protecting buildings from negative water pressure is tricky but a doable task if handled with due attention & care. Usually, waterproofing is done on the positive side of where the water pressure is. but at times situation arises where there is no access to the positive side to do proper waterproofing. People generally are skeptical of negative side water proofing since they might have had unsuccessful results in the past. But negative side waterproofing can be a successful method of stopping rising damp, moisture and water leaks if executed professionally with quality chemicals or products.
The most common reasons that you will get any internal wall leaking is due to the following:
1. The positive side wall that has been waterproofed is compromised or damaged in some manner allowing water through to the internal wall.
2. Older homes seldom had (if any) waterproofing systems in place for water leaks
3. Burst down pipe or water main can allow excess water to sit behind the wall and build up too much pressure for the aged waterproofing to tolerate.
4. During rain season ground water can cause rising damp allowing excess water from the water table to push through the ground substrate or wall.
One great reason for choosing to waterproof from the negative side is the costs involved. It may be cheaper to waterproof the internal wall or floor, compared to digging or excavating down to the footing of the external wall. Costs vary depending on the job and the circumstances, so discuss what water proofing method is the most cost effective with your builder or water proofer.
So, whether you choose negative or positive waterproofing, both methods comply with Australian standards and are both effective given the situation.
